Frequently asked questions
Which .xlsx workbooks are accepted?
The current Excel format, with the .xlsx extension, up to 10 MiB per file and 100 MiB once decompressed. .xls workbooks have their own page; CSV, ODS and XLSB files and password-protected workbooks are rejected.
What happens to each sheet of the .xlsx workbook?
Each non-empty sheet becomes a section titled with its name, in tab order, followed by a GFM table. The first used row is the header and numeric columns are right-aligned.
Are formulas and number formats kept?
The Markdown uses the text Excel displays: dates, percentages and currencies keep their format. A formula gives the last value saved in the file, and special Markdown characters are escaped so they cannot break the table.
